What's the difference between semester GPA and cumulative GPA?
Semester GPA is calculated from a single semester's courses only. Cumulative GPA is calculated from all courses you've taken since you started studying until now. To calculate your new cumulative GPA after a given semester, enter your previous cumulative GPA and its hours in the calculator's two optional fields, and they'll automatically merge with the current semester's courses.
How are quality points calculated?
Quality points per course = credit hours × letter grade points. Cumulative GPA = sum of quality points for all courses ÷ sum of credit hours. Example: an A+ course (5.00 points) with 3 hours gives 15 quality points.
Are grade points the same at all Saudi universities?
Not exactly. Most Saudi universities use a 5.00 scale with a very similar points table (though a grade like B+ may differ by 0.05 to 0.25 points between universities), while some programs and graduate studies use a 4.00 scale. This calculator uses the most common table for each scale — check your university's official regulations for any sensitive academic decision.
How many courses can I enter?
Up to 10 courses in the same calculation. 5 courses show initially, and you can press the "Add another course" button to reveal additional fields up to a maximum of 10 — enough for most semesters.
What does the GPA classification mean (Excellent, Very Good...)?
A common approximate classification in Saudi universities based on your GPA's percentage of your university's scale maximum: 90%+ = Excellent, 75-89% = Very Good, 55-74% = Good, 40-54% = Pass, below 40% = Poor/Fail. The exact thresholds may differ slightly by your university's regulations.
