Are housing and transport allowances included in the gratuity calculation?
Yes. Article 84 is based on the 'actual wage' — base salary plus all fixed, recurring additions like housing and transport allowances and regular grants. Variable bonuses and commissions (that change month to month) are generally not included.
I resigned after a year and a half — am I entitled to any gratuity?
No. Under Article 85, resigning before completing 2 years of service is not entitled to any end-of-service gratuity. Entitlement starts at a full 2 years or more.
What's the difference between unfair dismissal and disciplinary dismissal (Article 80)?
Dismissal under Article 80 is a lawful termination for specific reasons defined by the law (like fraud or gross misconduct), and it forfeits the gratuity. Unfair dismissal, on the other hand, is termination without an acceptable legal reason — it does not forfeit the gratuity, and the employee may be entitled to additional compensation decided by a labor court on top of the full gratuity, which is outside the scope of this calculator.
Does this calculator include payout for unused annual leave?
No. Unused leave balance is a separate entitlement from the end-of-service gratuity, and its value depends on your actual balance with your employer, which this calculator doesn't compute. Check your leave balance statement with HR to calculate that amount separately.
I'm a non-Saudi employee — do the same rules apply to me?
Yes, the provisions of Articles 84 and 85 on end-of-service gratuity apply to all private-sector employees in Saudi Arabia regardless of nationality.
