How much is the dependent fee per month?
The set fee is 400 SAR per month for each dependent (this level was reached in July 2020 and has not changed since, as of this page's last update). Fees are usually collected in advance for the full residency period at issuance or renewal.
Does the dependent fee include newborns?
Yes, the levy is charged for every dependent added to the Iqama regardless of age from the moment they are added. When planning your Iqama renewal, count the full number of dependents at the time of renewal.
What's the difference between the 800 and 700 SAR labor fee?
The expat labor levy on establishments has two tiers: 800 SAR per month for each expat worker if the number of expats in the establishment exceeds the Saudis, and 700 SAR if they are equal or fewer — a direct incentive to raise the localization ratio.
Does this calculator include Iqama renewal and work-permit fees?
No — the calculator computes the levy (dependent or labor) only. Iqama issuance and renewal fees, the work permit, medical insurance, and exit/re-entry visas are separate fees added on top of the result, referenced through the Absher, Qiwa and Muqeem platforms.
Are there categories exempt from the dependent fee?
There are cases and exceptions governed by official bodies whose rules may change, and you shouldn't rely on circulating information about them. Verify your specific situation through Absher or the competent authority before building any financial decision on an assumed exemption.
Why is the amount at renewal larger than my monthly calculation?
Because fees are collected in advance for the full residency period in one payment, and partial months may be added between the payment date and the start of the renewal, in addition to the other separate fees (Iqama, insurance). Use the months field to simulate your actual duration.
