Does this calculator apply to Omani citizens?
No. This calculator is for expatriate workers only. Omani citizens are covered by the Social Protection Law (Royal Decree 52/2023) instead of this gratuity, which is an entirely separate pension/social-insurance system.
Why is the threshold 3 years in Oman instead of 5 like Saudi Arabia?
Because Oman's Labor Law explicitly sets 3 years as the transition point from the half-month rate to the full-month rate, unlike Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which set 5 years as their transition point. Each Gulf country sets its own threshold under its own independent legal text.
Is my gratuity reduced if I resign early?
No, under the current law there's no reduction in gratuity for early resignation, as long as you completed at least 1 full year of service — mirroring the same reform trend as the UAE and Qatar.
Is there a maximum cap on end-of-service gratuity in Oman?
Oman's Labor Law text doesn't set an explicit maximum cap on the gratuity, unlike the UAE (2-year cap) and Kuwait (1.5-year cap). The gratuity continues to accumulate with each additional year of service.
When is my gratuity forfeited entirely?
In the case of dismissal without notice for specific gross-misconduct grounds defined in the law, such as impersonation to obtain the job, an error causing serious material loss to the employer, a final conviction for a crime of dishonesty, or being intoxicated during working hours.
