Are public holidays deducted from my annual leave balance?
No. If a public holiday falls during your annual leave in most GCC labor laws, it isn't deducted from your balance — you either get a substitute day or that day simply isn't counted against your leave.
Can I carry over unused leave to next year?
Usually yes, but with a maximum that varies by country and employer agreement (often capped around 30 days or half the annual balance in some systems), and it may require written consent from both sides.
Does my employer set my leave dates, or do I?
In most GCC labor laws, the employer has the right to schedule annual leave according to work requirements, while considering the employee's preference where possible, and may split it into at most two periods in some countries.
What happens to my leave balance if I resign or my employment ends?
Your unused balance is paid out as a separate cash allowance at the end of employment, calculated on your last salary. This is a separate amount entirely from the end-of-service gratuity itself.
Does this calculator account for the specific terms of my contract?
No, it calculates the legal minimum only. If your contract or internal company policy grants longer leave, that applies instead since it's more favorable to the employee.
Why does the daily value shown differ from my payslip?
We use monthly salary ÷ 30 days as a common estimation convention. Some companies calculate the actual working-day rate differently (e.g. over actual working days in the month), so the precise figure may vary slightly — check your payslip or HR for certainty.
